French documentarians conducted an examination where they combined a mistake diversion show -- with all the standard college of music accoutrements -- and afterwards educated participants (who believed it was a genuine TV program) to discharge electric shock to secret contestants each time they answered questions incorrectly, with augmenting potential for each wrong answer. Even as the secret contestants (who were actors)screamed in anguish and pleaded for forgiveness -- and even once they went wordless and were as if passed -- 81% of the participants one after another to conform the instructions of the authority-figure/host and kept administering higher and higher levels of electric shock. The examination was a reproduction of the one conducted in 1961 by Yale clergyman Stanley Milgram, where 65% of participants obeyed instructions from a directed towards management figure to discharge electric shock to secret individuals, and never stopped obeying even as they listened agonizing screams and afterwards silence.
